This is a different type of entry for me but as I think more about men's mental health and the impact that it plays on men dying by suicide and shortening people's lives I've begun to think about my personal life and how I've used the time. I've also thought about what I'll use the time that I have left for. The one constant that I keep coming back to is that, none of us are promised tomorrow. Suicide, cancer, car accidents, heart disease...there are so many things that cause a man to breathe his last breath so with mine I intend to make an impact. I hope that you'll all make a commitment to yourselves to do the same.
"If You Died Today":
If you died today, would you say goodbye
With a smile and a heart full of contentment and pride?
Would you look back at your life and feel glad
For the memories, love and happiness you had?
Or would you leave this world with a frown
Wishing for chances you'd missed... opportunities not found?
Would you regret the things you did not do
or the words left unsaid just sitting in queue?
Would you leave a lasting mark on this earth
Or simply fade away not knowing your worth?
Would you find comfort in knowing that you had inspired
within someone's heart, a spark that's grown to a fire?
If you died today, would you be at peace
With the person you were and the journey complete?
Or would you leave this world feeling a void
wanting more time to leave lasting joy?
It's never too late to start living with grace
To cherish each day and put a smile on your face.
To make an impact, to love and to give
And to make the most of this life that you live.
